Caroline eventually put me to work breaking down the event with the promise of an after-party invite. It took her a few months to decide she wanted to date me, but our relationship began over a shared love of Florida and Alabama, the states.”

“Darren surprised me for July 4th weekend,
and flew down to Pensacola. My parents and I had been staying at Liney and Papa Jack’s house. Darren snuck in and only really told Fleming his whereabouts so he could surprise my parents as well. The next day, he took me on a car ride, found a perfect tree with a bench under it overlooking Pensacola Bay, and popped the question. I was in shock I was so very excited, and I said YES!”

You have read their sides of the story of their first meeting, but we wanted to share a little more together.
Caroline and Darren met in September 2015 while both out on the town with their State Societies in the shadow of the White House on the rooftop of the Mills Building for the annual Flora-Bama Hurricane Relief Charity Reception. After catching each other’s eye across the room and spending the rest of the night finding out how much they have in common, Darren pursued Caroline for a few months. They finally shared their first date at Mission DuPont, and started dating in 2016.
On July 4th, 2020, in Pensacola Darren asked Caroline for her hand in marriage. She was able to celebrate with her parents in person, and they gave everyone hope for the future. They're best friends, true loves, and badass partners in life. They are to take the next step in their life as a couple with you as they become husband and wife!
